My Week of Birthday Celebrations

Sorry for the lack of updates, or continuation from Hanoi... but I've been busy celebrating my birthday! Yup, amidst the debauchery of too much food (especially too much food), too much bling and too many well-wishes, I turned a year older. Sigh, I've waited for this day like... forever. Finally, I told myself, finally am I able to vote and watch R21 movies and get married without parental consent. Unfortunately, (a) the elections were over by the time I was 21, (b) there are no good R21 movies showing now, and (c) I'm not about to get married any time soon yeah. So.. erm, why does 21 feel so much like 20????

By the way, you people can officially stop asking me about my age from now on. I'm into full denial mode. I'm truly going to be... forever 21. Yes sir, next year this time, I'd be celebrating my 21st birthday again, and the year after that, and years after that. Time stops now. I'd stay young and beautiful forever!!! Muahaha... and for those who have children next time, remember to teach them to call me jie jie, and not auntie. If not, you might be short one child. Just saying. I do have a history of violent tendencies. Hehehe...

Anyway, back to my celebrations. The week kicked off with the KB gang, celebrating my birthday early, on the 20th May...

Breaking tradition (i.e. celebrating every birthday at freaking Sakae Sushi), I dragged the girls down to Fish and Co. Glasshouse for some good old fish food...

Say Cheese!

On Sunday, I was whisked off to Shangri-La's The Line Restaurant for dinner. Overpriced? Hell, yes. It was $68+++/pax can! Overrated? Totally. Was the food fantastic? No. Was the quality of food unbelievable? No, below standard actually. Ok, so the spread was impressive, and there were lobsters (which were overcooked, btw), but frankly... really not worth all that money.

Must eat more lobsters, yeah

Yup, my baby wore a shirt for the occasion. Doesn't he look like a teacher??

My birthday eve, my mum decided to bring me out for a smaller dinner.. hey, you're only 21 once! Haha, in the end still ended up at Sakae Sushi... sigh... But I got a cake! See!

So what did I do on my birthday? Had to figure out my direction in life...

I want to be a rock chick! Nah.. just cam whoring as usual.

So anyway, I spent my birthday with Fadz. What did we do? Eat, drink and make merry of course. Ever since coming back from Vietnam where ice cream was truly cheap, I just can't stop eating the damn thing. I substitute entire meals with ice cream to feel less guilty about consuming those calories death traps.

Here we are at Azubo something at Marina Square eating their famous Japanese Ice Cream. Yum yum! I heart Japanest dumplings with vanilla ice cream. We caught X-Men 3, which btw, I enjoyed, but not as much as X-Men 2. The characters were way cooler (remember Night Crawler?) and had more screen time to develop their personalities. This installment was just one explosion after another. Oh well.

And this is where we had dinner....

The very, very nice Wasabi Bistro at Oriental Hotel (Looks gloomy in this shot, but it's actually very romantic). I was so terribly pleased. Fadz only agrees to eat Japanese when it's my birthday as he absolutely HATES raw food. I'm still trying to convince him that Japanese is not just about sashimi. Anyway... the food was great, the ambience was great, service was fantastic! 10 thumbs up! If you ever have money to blow, this would be the place.

And to top it off, we discovered this heavenly place at Esplanade to have tea like some fancy English aristocracy.

Wicked deco... a bit pricey for normal tea though.

By this time, my stomach had expanded by a gazillion inches but it was for a good cause... 2 more birthday dinners to go!

I meet Syl and Kris at One Fullerton's BakerzInn. Like their food, and the river view is always good to have.

We retired to Harry's Bar after dinner because what's a girls' night out without drinks, right?

Me and the girls

So my final celebration came in the form of the very noisy volleyball girls. It's always funny going out with them. There's just something about sports people: we're naturally damn noisy and not afraid to show it. Dinner was at Thai Express (ho hum) but the company, as always, unforgettable.

Is it any wonder that I'm trying to exercise like mad now? Sigh... I feel like a cow....

Happy 21st to me and thank you to everyone who made it special! *muacks*
